Values in Action

Objective:

Values In Action (VIA) at St Nicks aims to nurture the pupils to become socially responsible citizens and to help them understand that every citizen has a role in enhancing the well-being of the community and the country.

Our VIA Programme:

The school’s VIA is designed based on one of our school virtues, ‘Learning from Life’ (‘活学巧用’). It starts with developing oneself at the lower primary, extending to service to the school and then to the community at the upper Primary levels.

P1 VIA: Happy Classroom - Primary 1 pupils keep their classrooms clean and conducive for learning.

P2 VIA: Happy Canteen - P2 pupils put on an apron when performing their duty.
The pupils will
1) remind their peers to return their used plates, bowls and cutlery to the respective bins,
2) remind their peers to buy the amount of food that they can finish to cut down on food wastage and
3) keep the environment clean by not littering on the table and surrounding.

P3 VIA: Little Champs @ NMKF - Primary 3 pupils raise funds for the National Kidney Foundation through sale of hand-made crafts during their Art lessons in Term 2.

P4 VIA: P1 Buddy Programme, P4 St Luke's ElderCare Visit - Primary 4 pupils lead and serve as buddies for the Primary 1 pupils during Primary 1 Orientation in Term 1. Classes conduct befriending programmes for the patients of St Luke's ElderCare and put up an array of meaningful activities such as skit, games to for them.

P5 VIA: Food of Love Project - Primary 5 pupils championed a food drive to call for non-perishable food items for the needy families and individuals in our community.

P6 VIA: Save Our Earth - Primary 6 pupils collaborated with the recycling company, 800 Super Waste Management to collect recyclable items from the flats in our neighbourhood.

Project H2O: Project H2O stands for Hearts and Hands Outreach. This is a self-initiated programme targets at the Primary 6 pupils and is held after the PSLE. Interested students may set up project teams to explore issues of school/national interest and propose school/community outreach projects to make an impact on their immediate environment and neighborhood for causes they are passionate about.
